Rita Leo and
Mario Georges Verheyden
They are the owners of Allevamento delle Paludi, a family-run business with deep roots and a great passion for horses.
After Luc’s father passed away in 2012, Mario decided to suspend the breeding business. However, thanks to the support and determination of his wife Rita, he resumed work a few years later with renewed enthusiasm. Since then, the stud farm has entered a new phase of growth, focusing on breeding riding horses and expanding the educational farm, aimed in particular at schools and families. All this is complemented by the riding school, which has been operating for many years and is a reference point for enthusiasts and young riders.
“Among his many successes, one of the most exciting moments remains Mario’s victory in the Piccolo Gran Premio di Piazza di Siena in Rome in 1996. At that time, the stud farm was still run by his father Luc. On that occasion, the national anthem rang out for a horse from Le Paludi, already a promising young talent. An indelible memory.”
‘Over the years, we have received numerous awards for the quality of our horses and the results achieved in competition,’ says Rita.

Over the years, Paludi horses have won several important awards…

Our facility covers an area of 10 hectares of land, mainly meadows, used for hay production and equestrian activities.
The property includes an indoor riding arena, a cosy clubhouse, numerous horse stalls and three outdoor riding arenas.
We also breed horses: we directly oversee the birth and growth of our foals, carefully selecting quality specimens. Each year we produce an average of 2-3 horses, depending on births and availability, always maintaining a high level of attention to the welfare and proper development of the animals.
